Steam ist als Vertriebsplattform in der Gamesbranche nicht mehr weg zu denken. Ich selbst habe über die Jahre über 60 Titel in meiner Steam Liste gesammelt und ich kenne einige die das um längen schlagen :) Nun möchte Valve den weg zu “Non-Gaming-Software” ebnen und plant bereits im September die Kategorie Anwendungssoftware einzuführen.
“The Software titles coming to Steam range from creativity to productivity. Many of the launch titles will take advantage of popular Steamworks features, such as easy installation, automatic updating, and the ability to save your work to your personal Steam Cloud space so your files may travel with you.
More Software titles will be added in an ongoing fashion following the September 5th launch, and developers will be welcome to submit Software titles via Steam Greenlight.”
Ich meine Sinn macht es wirklich, Steam ist nicht wie der Win 8 Store oder der Mac Store nur an eine Plattform gebunden und hat bereits eine riesen Userbase. Aktuell hält sich Valve mit weiteren Informationen noch sehr bedeckt, so bleibt noch offen welche Software angeboten wird.
Ich bin gespannt was da auf uns zukommt.
Ich hoffe, dass die Software an Greenlights gebunden wird und die Nutzer selbst entscheiden können, was Angeboten wird und was nicht.
Oh ja, denn das Vorhaben steht und fällt mit Spamanwendungen im store oder nicht. Siehe Windows 8 store *hust*
